Jackie was telling us about purchasing a pair of Apple Airpods 3rd
Generation. She is very pleased with them and she was using them on todays
meeting. She sounded good.
Jackie and Ken both followed up from last weeks meeting on switching devices
with their aftershokz. Both people reported that holding in the volume up and
volume down buttons didn't work.
This started a conversation on pairing various different types of bluetooth
devices.
Ken then spoke about a bug that was faced by a few members, when audio would
go low. Ken discovered that just locking the screen without returning to the
home screen left his audio normal. Cearbhall recommended that he turn off
audio ducking.
Settings, Accessibility, voiceOver, audio, then toggle on or off audio
ducking.
Ken sent an attachment from his laptop however. He wanted to check it on his
phone. Professor Cearbhall talked Ken through making a setting change On his
lapon his laptop. So the attachment could be open on his laptop and phone.
The format on his phone was ODT.
Paul was asking about copying and pasting from pages. Ken wrote a sentence
and using the rotor he copied and pasted into a text message. He then saved
the pages document and shared it via email. When emailing a pages doc you
first must convert it into a format that non apple users could read so IE
word or PDF.
Martin was asking how to forward an email. Jackie said in the native mail app
go to reply options and forward is an option here.
Jackie was saying about her experience with using the WeWalk cane, it wasn't
overly positive.
This then started a conversation on other GPS apps like soundscape.
Derry was looking to know the reason why people like or dislike the different
online meeting platforms, for instance Microsoft teams and zoom. Several
members shared their own experiences.
Sean wanted to find out on how to claim the VAT back on assistive Technology
and who to contact. Ken shared the information with him. You can do this by

Dominique was telling us about an upcoming online event with NCBI On
Tuesday, the 6th of September Oran O’Neill. will be talking about his role
as a sound engineer in RTÉ and
informing us of several important accessibility improvements recently
introduced to the RTÉ player app.
Derry wanted to find out what exactly one could use the R cam glasses and the
cost. Jackie shared her excellent knowledge of them with him. Cearbhall And
Martin both suggested speaking to Tom.
Sean wanted to know how to recover YouTube on his Computer. Cearbhall
Suggested more than likely it got moved to the recycle bin.
Dominique made Stuart aware that some of his emails were appearing in some
funny kind of code to the FB mailing list.
Ken Suggested before Stuart sent an email to backspace in the edit feels to
clear any rogue characters that might be hidden. Stuart was going to try this
and report back.
