Martin asked about the book from the carol centre for the blind. Cearbhall
posted a link to this screen reader handbook to the list last week. Jackie
said she has found it a great resource. Cearbhall agreed with Jackie. Stuart
checked out could he download this book to his iPhone, this is a work in
progress.
Derry was asking about playing seascapes podcast on Alexa. Martin told him
to say Play SeaScapes podcast on tune in.
Jackie told us about using Sharky. This is available in Jaws 21 and 22. It
can list links and such like. Currently it can't open apps like outlook or
word.
Joanne was asking about pausing a voice message in Whatsapp. Ken discovered
the gesture is a one finger double tap.
Paul was wondering how to play videos after each other in the photos app. It
was suggested by a number of people to find the videos folder. Then Ken said
to play different videos, open one video and then do a three finger swipe
left or right. A two finger double tap will pause and play videos.
Pat asked us did we hear of the two finger quadruple tap. This will bring up
voiceover settings.
Jackie told us about how her android phone crashed. it took a while for her
to get things working again. When she tried earphones then bixby would react,
still using the earphones she was able to get talk back working again by
holding down the volume up and volume down buttons. Then she restarted the
phone and all was back to normal.
Its very difficult to ask for android support because of there being so many
different android phones on the market. This is where iPhone has the edge in
the market.
Mary was asking about having tickets on her phone for a concert, she was
wondering would just showing them on the phone do or would she need to print
them out. People suggested she just ring the venue and ask.
We all spoke about the bug of VoiceOver losing focus while on the phone app.
When you try and ring one person it generally jumps to another person. Ken
said he is having a bug on his phone when he gets a call VoiceOver seems to
mute and you can't hear whose calling. Jackie said she presses the volume up
button when this happens and VoiceOver talks again,she can hear whose
calling.
Cearbhall explained to Sean on how to get his name to appear on the
participants list when he comes in to the meeting. Cearbhall said he can sign
up to zoom with his email and creating a password and his display name will
be set for future meetings. Jackie and Ken both said he can sign in to zoom
with his Gmail username and password or by signing in with his Apple ID. This
will have the same outcome as signing up from scratch.
