Hi Adrian,
Good one.
No black magic.
Handsome is as handsome does.
This is why the ‘FB’ meetings are such a good training ground.
When, I worked for ‘Intel’ we had 2 screens.
So you could stay live on one and on the other make notes.
I never used my brailler just in case it all went pair shaped.
I am a slow brailler and not born blind but traumatically blinded at 22 years.
So that is why my plan would be to stay below the radar.
I would use ‘Jaws Notes’ and this would get me going.
(Only available up to Jaws 2014)
But I was too self-conscious and not too sure of my own ability to do the whole
tech secretary job as it could get very messy and very thwart with tech notes.
Using a tape recorder is just too long winded and takes up too much time to
edit.
Again, my thanks.
All the best,
Garth

Hi Garth,
Note taking it's a mix. it takes a bit of practice, good touch typing skills,
and a good memory.
I don't record the meeting. The way I do it is I take very brief sentences of
whatever is being discussed while focusing and memorizing details. I make sure
key details are being noted so that I don't miss what's important. At the end,
you'll end up with a list of key points that you have to expand. This is where
the rest of the details come back from your memory.
This is why it is important to write the complete minutes in a matter of hours
after the event so that the details are still fresh in your memory.
I admit that AI does a great job of improving the readability of the final
notes but you still have to read them again and make some adjustments.
All the best,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
Greetings from Cobh.
Please do tell me how you transcribe your notes.
I do have a Refreshable brailler and a hand held tape recorder but do not know
how to synchronise myself nor my work space to take notes and listen to the
webinar?
So when I worked I would always dodge this very valuable position of being a
'Secretary'?
Do you mind sharing with me and anyone else interested?

Hi everyone and welcome to the FB Exchange Tech Club, the most friendly Q&A
Tech club around. Don't forget, Christmas is in 37 days, so you better start
doing the shopping now.
There were 11 participants in attendance.
Following the customary discussion about the recent weather conditions in
Ireland and the brief notice of heavy rain coming and amid conversations about
the early holiday season celebrations, it was observed that the designated
note-taker was absent. Adrian assumed this role for the meeting.
It's worth mentioning that a couple of participants were preparing for their
performance at a Sightless cinema today. Good luck guys.
Anne initiated the conversation and expressed her satisfaction with the Moovit
App, which provides information about local public transport. For those
unfamiliar with the app, here is the link:
IOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/moovit-all-transit-options/id498477945
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tranzmate ;
<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tranzmate&hl=en_US> &hl=en_US
The discussion shifted to the process of renewing the free transport pass. Paul
successfully resolved an issue with notifications from gov.ie, discovering that
it was an error, and there was no problem with his application.
Ger inquired about the functionality of read receipts in emails, specifically
in the Gmail app on Android. Anne clarified that this option is not available
in the app but can be achieved in other email clients. Adrian committed to
following up with an email detailing how to do it in various email clients.
Anne sought information about the Pages app on MacOS, learning that it is a
note-taking app similar to WordPad or Notepad in Windows.
Speaking of office apps, Adrian shared a very odd keyboard shortcut in Windows
that will open the Microsoft Office 365 apps. Get ready to break your fingers:
Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Win + O - this will open Outlook, for emaple. A full list
of the shortcuts can be found here:
https://www.pcgamer.com/ctrlshiftaltwinl-is-the-most-cursed-windows-11-shortcut-combo/
Cearbhall said it is actually a HyperKey shortcut. More details on how to set
it up can be found here: https://www.bencodezen.io/blog/the-hyper-key
Until you set it up, here are a few more of these finger-breaking shortcuts:
LinkedIn - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + L
Word - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + W
Excel - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + X
PowerPoint - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + P
Outlook - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + O
Microsoft Teams - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + T
OneDrive - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + D
OneNote - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + N
Yammer - CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + WIN + Y
Ken asked about typing percentages using the Hable Key, and Cearbhall answered,
sending an email to Ken by the end of the meeting.
Paul inquired if Braille uses dashes, receiving a negative response.
Ken expressed dissatisfaction with a recent update to the Audible iPad app,
citing differences in the interface. Adrian attributed this to screen
resolution and suggested checking for a Screen Size option for iOS users which
is availbale on Android and downsizes the resolution.
Anne inquired about activating Google Assistant on Android, leading to a
discussion on the accessibility and usability differences between iOS and
Android phones. Anne was told that on Android it differs between brands but at
leas a "Google" section should be available in settings, where she could
activate Google Assistant.
Cearbhall faced microphone issues on his phone while using it with hearing
aids. A live troubleshooting session ensued, suspecting issues with the phone's
microphone. Cearbhall planned to contact Apple customer support. Adrian
provided him the phone number: 1800 92 38 98. (Mon-Fri 9:00 – 20:00)
Joanne asked Adrian for a recommended app to program NFC tags. Adrian inquired
about her use cases for NFC tags. She mentioned a couple including labeling
clothes due to their small size. Joanne asked Adrian to send again the videos
he posted to the list a couple of months ago. The links are:
Video 1 has a crash course on NFC too and showcases the magnetic NFC stickers:

The Hable keyboard returned to the discussion, with Joanne enrolling in an
upcoming course on it.

The meeting concluded.
