I downloaded the Quick Assist App from the App Store and provided them with a
code in the App and then I had to allow screen sharing and they then had access
to my screen and could see what I was doing on it.

Hi Dominique,
Do you know what program you had to add to the iPhone to let VI get access to
it?
All the best,

Yes VI LABS can access your iPhone after you download the App from the App
Store. I downloaded the App and they could then assist me by seeing my
iPhone’s screen.

12 PARTICIPANTS
We wish Tom a speedy recovery from a severe infection that developed from a
tiny scratch caused by the edge of a newly opened tin.
He was delighted to find Home Therapy very efficient and helpful.
Martin reported a great reception in Galway last week for the latest offering
from Sightless Cinema. Great support was received from Galway students. The
next show is in Portlaoise next week.
We had an extensive discussion on the workings of hearing aids and Bluetooth
with the iPhone and Zoom meetings. Albert finds that nothing can beat the Rivo
keyboard for consistency and support of either the iPhone or the Android phone.
Up to recently, the iPhone failed to support the Rivo Bluetooth connection but
the recent IOS 17.4 update seems to have cured this problem.
The Hable1 was favoured by Stuart and Cearbhall as an efficient way of handling
the iPhone.
Albert finds the Hable1 keyboard freezes at certain times. The meeting
recommended that he try to replace it under warranty.
EAMONN had an ANDROID problem with his Galaxy phone which was not reporting
notifications with a text message but simply issuing a beep. Perhaps this might
be due to a setting under notifications to limit notifications to the beep
only.
Bert found that he needed to manage the badges setting in the iPhone to
determine whether message notifications were spoken or not.
Michael wondered if Quick Assist could be used on the iPhone. He noted that
Apple normally do not allow access to the operating system by anyone other than
an Apple support person. After a lengthy discussion, it was agreed to revisit
this question at the Saturday meeting to find out if VI had been able to access
an iPhone with Quick assist. It was noted that quick Assist is normally used by
Microsoft to access a PC or laptop but nobody could recall that the iPhone
could be entered by this means.
STUART described the Apple AirPpods with great results. They come with rubber
caps to secure them firmly in the ear. The "Find my AirPods" function on the
iPhone was highly effective for locating the AirPods when they went missing.
AirPods or Bluetooth earbuds?
addition to seamless connectivity and automatic device switching, Airpods now
provide voice commands via Siri and a longer battery life. Airpods are more
expensive while Bluetooth earbuds are more reasonably priced.
AirTags can be used to identify any device and cost just under €20. They can be
detected by the “Find my" function in IOS.
The topic moved to hearing devices that eliminate ambient sound so that music
speech or a phone call can be heard more clearly without interference.

cancellation and Noise reducing headphones , the following might help to make

Maintaining a charge on the iPhone is always a problem. The meeting discussed
various options including an iPhone dock, chargers etc.
Michael found that he could not mute or unmute himself in the Zoom meeting. He
found that disconnecting from the zoom meeting and logging in again fixed the
problem to great relief all round!
All agreed to take a rest for the St. Patrick's Day Bank Holiday and to meet
again on Monday 25th. of March.
The meeting ended
