I do not attend the meetings but enjoyed receiving your emails and enjoy
reading through has attended the meeting. surely if all those who attend the
meeting are in agreement that their names can be placed on the information
email then that is not breaching any data protection. on the other hand if
you're a group is owned and controlled by Fighting Blindness, I guess you
have to follow the charities request. I had no problem in putting my new
Covid certificate into the Covid app. I deleted the old one first.

Date: Saturday 5th. February 2022
Venue: Zoom
The Covid Certificate is still creating problems. Dominique tried to
install the latest copy of the Covid Certificate. She deleted the old
one, but when she used the QR code reader to bring in the new one, she
found that the old one had been reinstated. After several attempts she
uninstalled the app and reinstalled it but, the same happened again.
The group had no clear answer for her but it was suggested that the
old data might have been restored from the cloud. Further research needed!
Next, Ken, our trusted chairman, was prevented from attending due to
insomnia and a profound lack of WIFI! Dominique, sympathising,
reported that she , too, had a problem with her WIFI connection. She
had Virgin media out who did a great job of setting up everything.
They warned her that the router should be placed as near to the centre
of the house as possible and far away from external walls to prevent
interference with the WIFI signal. This was done and now she has
unbroken WIFI. Despite these improvements, the Echo Show is still not
picking up the good vibes. The meeting recommended that she delete the
connection from within Show settings and restart. She was advised that
she could turn on Voice View by giving a command to the Echo Show so that

is to ask the service provider to do it as the alternative is too
elaborate and fraught with difficulties for the non-visual user.

comfortable inside, have the internal version. All agreed that when in

Work related support for improvements are still lagging for both
Martha and Chris. In Martha's case, the company has decided to ask
Blazie Engineering for support since they wrote the scripts for her
use of JAWS. Chris is still waiting for any meaningful progress relating

Road works can cause a major obstacle for walkers with poor or no
sight. It appears that the law requires that there be an attendant 24
hours a day to prevent accidents when a road has been opened up but
frequently this is not provided. In Sligo, it appears that the council

Paul likes to use Microsoft Edge for searches on the internet. This
raised the question of default programs in windows for various tasks.
The trick is to press the Windows key and type "default". this brings up

Martha delivered an announcement from Pat W that Ember is now up and
running in his house and is very accessibly controlled by the ember
app with Voiceover on the iPhone.
Jackie drew attention to the difficulty with editing comments in
Facebook using Voiceover on the iPhone. This appears to be a
long-standing bug that has not yet been addressed by Apple.
She also asked how to set up An email signature that shows up at the
bottom of outgoing emails. It might include a name and title, a quote,
or information such as a website URL or phone number.
A search showed that Email signatures are set up on the iPhone and
iPad in the Settings app. The iPhone's default signature line is "Sent
from my iPhone," but you can change this signature to anything you
want (or use none at all). You can even make an email signature that
differs for each of your connected email accounts. Here's a link to
show how to set up a basic email

Email signatures are set up in Outlook as follows:
1. Press control + n to start a new email message and press down
arrow on Messages on the ribbon;
2. When you reach "Signatures", Press right arrow to open the list of
signatures if any are already present;
3. Press up-arrow to the word "Signatures and press enter to open
"Signatures and Stationery";
4. Select "Mew" and type your signature;
5. Select Save when you're done.
GDPR raises its ugly head again! Fighting blindness has asked us to
stop displaying the names of participants in our minutes because
Freelists is an open list that is accessible by anyone. After a
lengthy discussion, the members agreed that the attendance list be
withheld but that first names might be used in the minutes since the
identity of members is not then exposed.
All comments welcome!
The meeting ended.
All the best,
