Today is Portia Coughlan=E2=80=99s 30th birthday, but she =
doesn=E2=80=99t have the heart to celebrate. It=E2=80=99s also the =
anniversary of the death of her twin brother, Gabriel, who drowned 15 =
years ago. Is it her fate to join him in the Belmont river, or can she =
escape the past and find her place in this world?
Marina Carr=E2=80=99s haunting play premiered at the Abbey Theatre in =
1996. This new production is directed by Abbey Theatre Associate =
Director, Caroline Byrne, and stars Olivier Award winner, Denise Gough =
in the title role.

In line with government guidelines announced on 21 January, all =
performances will operate at full capacity.
Covid Certification is no longer required for entry, but masks are =
mandatory.
Social distancing is no longer a requirement and people from other =
parties may be seated next to you.

The Abbey auditoria are high ceiling, spacious venues with fresh air =
supply ventilation in place. Fresh air from outside is pushed into the =
Theatre and stale air pushed out. Air is not re-circulated.
Entry to the Abbey Theatre may be conditional on public health =
guidelines at the time of the performance, and not at the time of ticket =
purchase. Any changes to entry requirements will be communicated in =
advance.
