Hi Paul
well done to you and all who made the approach to Microsoft.
Sounds a little more positive for sure but I wonder might we also
consider approaching those who could well mkake open source of advantage
to Soundscape?
After all there have been many situations where open source was and is
successful.
One that comes to mind at the moment is NVDA.
Yes it is disappointing re Microsoft but surely we should now look to
the future.
I'm wondering if anyone of our organisations for the blind would be
interested in undertaking the task?

Subject: RE: [EXTERNAL] sound scape app
Hello Paul,
Thank you for contacting the Microsoft enterprise Disability Answer Desk.
As we evolve our research portfolio, it is natural to end or transition some
projects. We feel the community can benefit from the novel experiences
developed for the Soundscape research project, and that is why we have
released the code as open-source software on January 3, 2023. Existing
installations of Soundscape can continue to be used until the end of June
2023, and the feedback on the app will continue to work during that time,
though we will focus on bug fixes and repairing service disruptions, but we
will not address requests for new features or capabilities.
Also, We have shared the below feedback with the engineering team for
consideration. As soon as we have more information, we will update this
thread.
For reference, we have created a ticket

ACCESSIBILITY 204108 for tracking purposes, you won't have access to this
link, but this can be used as a reference number for this request.

You don't often get email from paulfgriffith@xxxxxxxxx

Good afternoon, I am devasted at the sudden withdrawal of
the sound scape app,
It is a wonderful mobility app for vision impaired people trying to stay in
the real world.
Please please think again about giving up supporting this mobility
service,
Helping people with disabilities is one of the great things that global
players like Microsoft can do with their great technology and inovations.
Sound scape has transformed my life, so please think again about what your
doing.
Kind regards
Paul
