The other day, we started a new email list for all things NaviLens and
it has got off to a roaring start, but now has settled, so, I thought this
is the right time to tell people here about it and offer the subscription
link for anyone who wants to know more, offer suggestions, find out how and
all that sort of thing!

Hope that works. We are wanting to be international, so, anyone with links
to UK mailing lists, where we can spread the word would be very useful!
Especially, because at the moment, the UK and Ireland are leading the way re
the use of NaviLens Codes in the shops. It is only the beginning, but, if
we, who can access them can scan them as often as possible, either in situ,
in the shops or at home, we will greatly advance the likelyhood of other
manufacturers adopting the codes. Of course, you don't have to buy them,
just scan them, to demonstrate that the app is being used.
Hopefully, we will become even more international, by the use of Google
Translate, for, there are NaviLens users in Japan too! They are keen to link
up, so, we will see how the software works!!
At the moment, the new Navilens Community has people from Ireland,
America, Canada and is reaching out around the planet! Are you keen to join
and build this wonderful and all inclusive form of accessible digital
signage? Here's an example of how, already, we are adding to its potential
to impact upon our daily lives...
It has been suggested, via the online community, that a free kit of
Public NaviLens Codes could be made available to us all, and offered to
public institutions/facilities, so that all Disabled Toilets could be
NaviLensed. What would this mean to us, in real terms?
1. Imagine you are in the train station, you want to find the disabled loo,
you just fire up the free app, even if you have never used it before, it is
so easy. 2. you scan around until you hear the distinctive sound of a code
being located. When you hear "disabled Toilet", you tap on "lock and locate"
and your phone will guide you directly to it! The accuracy is, unlike GPS,
totally pinpoint.3. , once in the loo, scan again and read all the
different labels, such as, sink, toilet pedestal, flushing handle, paper
dispenser, drying machine, towel, changing mat, etc, plus, of course, door,
for leaving again. You will know the direction, and distance, from where you
are standing, but if you want, you can lock and locate again to be guided
there! No more needing to explore with hands and feet. No more insanitary
touching, or, at least, kept to a minimum. I think this will be truly life
changing for us, especially, if, as is possible, we experience more viral
outbreaks, better
to get these things done now rather than later.

Please do join, tell your friends, talk about it with your Orientation and
mobility instructors, get them to join, ask your guide dog trainers about
it, what about the NCBI, who are running some pilot studies with Navilens,
where are they? What are they? What about our train Stations and Buses,
there are pilot studies, we need to know more about where and when so we can
try them out! Join this group and be kept in the loop!
