I found this forwarded from the Echo list and thought it might be of
interest:
I'm a big fan of setting all my Echo devices to make a sound after I speak
the wake word. The visual blue ring that appears when saying the wake word
is useless but the sound is invaluable to me. In my opinion, the settings to
set this up using the Alexa app on my iPhone could not be more confusing. So
I found the website below where the words to speak to the Echo device to do
this are provided:

Here is the phrase to speak to turn this feature on:
Say, "Alexa, turn on Start of Request Sound" and "Alexa, turn on End of
Request Sound."
I don't use the end of request sound but the start of request sound I find
indispensable.
