Free art course for the visually impaired launches in Cork
Lara Haddaoui
Exploring the world of fine art may seem like a challenge for anyone
living with a visual impairment, but a new opportunity has arrived in
2024 thanks to a unique collaboration.
Irish sight loss charity Fighting Blindness has joined with Cork College
of Further Education and Training to introduce a ground-breaking
sculpture course and it’s all available for free.
The course facilitator, Krzysztof Rosa, is a skilled artist who is
passionate for making art accessible to all.
With a deep appreciation for the sensory experience of art, Krzysztof is
committed to creating an inclusive environment where participants can
explore their creativity and artistic expression.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with various materials,
shapes, and textures, allowing them to craft their sculptures guided by
touch, smell, and sound.
The aim of the course is creating a multi-sensory experience where
visual impairment should not be a barrier to experiencing the beauty of art.
The eight week course takes place at Douglas Street Campus, Cork College
of Further Education and Training, and kicks off on Thursday, January
25, and will run every Thursday from 4pm to 6pm.
