Eir's SIM-only mobile service GoMo today said it has signed up more than
200,000 customers since launching only eight months ago.
GoMo customers get all calls, all texts and all data for only â¬12.99 a month,
for life.
A so-called virtual operator, GoMo uses Eir's network and offers 99% population
coverage and over 97% 4G coverage. It operates as a standalone digital brand,
with no shops.
Customers order a SIM card over the internet, which is then delivered to them.
Service queries are handled by a dedicated webchat team based in Limerick but
Eir's existing support channels will not deal with problems.
The service does not require a long term contract and customers can sign up for
a rolling 30 day plan.
GoMo's Sales Lead BrÃonán Kennedy said the company was created to meet the
needs of mobile customers across Ireland.
"This reaction just shows it is the go-to network for customers who want a
modern, digital-first, simple mobile service. We've seen all types of customers
joining, including entire families, with the ability to have up to four SIMs on
one account," BrÃonán Kennedy added.
Earlier this month, digital mobile network 48 introduced two new plans with
"flexi-data" features. The new plans start from â¬9.99 per month and will
allow users to share, save, borrow and donate data.
