To do a hard reset/force restart. Do the following:
For an iPhone 8 or later press and release volume up, press and release
volume down then press and hold the side button until the screen goes blank
and the Apple icon appears. You will hear power off slide or double tap.
Just ignore this message and continue holding for 5 to 10 seconds.
