Thanks Dave, Cearbhall and Dominique.
I was veering towards Cearbhall's recommendation but now I'm not so sure. Any
more experiences you might like to share anybody? I have poor high frequency
hearing so I'm looking for any info I can get before I take the plunge.
Paul

I wonder, have AfterShokz improved over the past few years at all?
I had a pair of AfterShokz Blues several years ago and I did not like them at
all. I found that the sound leakage was awful, everyone within about a ten foot
radius of me seemed to be able to hear what was coming out of of them!
AirPods are expensive, but I agree they are great. And the Pro version has
Transparency mode, which is great for letting sound from the outside world in.
I’ve also heard very good things about Bose Frames.

Thanks Cearbhall, well described. How do you find the sound? Can you
hear the Soundscape instructions clearly?
Hope all is well in your world.
Take care

Paul,
I use the Aerotek After Shokz titanium headset. This is a loop of
titanium that loops around the back of the head and hols the earpieces
against the jawbone just in front of the ear. It does not penetrate
the earhole and so leaves the ears able to hear sounds all around without
interference.
When not in use, I find it convenient to place the linking band under
my shirt collar and the ear hoops sit cosily under the collar against my neck.
Otherwise I place the whole hoop in a coat pocket where it sits fine
out of the way.
All the best,
Cearbhall

Thank you very much for your clear and very helpful response Dominique.
Much appreciated.
My only concern in reading it is with the idea of rubber tipped
earbuds staying securely in the ears. I have a pair of earbuds called
Trubuds, complete with rubber tips and they have occasionally fallen
out and I reckon that the chances of finding one on the ground when on
the move would be difficult without sighted help.
But I'm pleased and encouraged that this hasn't happened to you. May
neither you nor your airPods never get lost!
The storage method you describe is similar to the Trubuds charging
case so I can visualise exactly what you describe. Very tidy.
Thanks again for this and for all your regular informative missives.

Hi Paul,
Yes I love Soundscape too and it's the first navigation App I've used
and I'm very impressed by it and have never got lost since.
I got the Apple AirPods Pro and find them brilliant. The 3D sound is
excellent when using the App and the sound is also brilliant for other
listening use also. Both of the Airpods have a separate side on the
case to slot in to, for the right and left. They do fit nicely into
your ear, and because of the rubber tips, which are not on the other
ones that I had, they don't fall out, well they haven't on me anyway!
You can also hear what's going on around you, and this is why I got
them for that reason, so I would still hear what's happening around me
when I'm out with Minnie, and I never used my second generation ones
when I was out for that reason, because I knew that I wouldn't be
aware of what was happening around me, and wouldn't be able to hear anything.
I've only ever used AirPods so can't comment on the others.
