nearly fully subscribed. We have limited spaces available, so please
register soon if you are interested
If you are new to Braille, the NCBI Braille team offers a variety of classes
to help you learn the basics. These classes are taught by experienced
instructors and are designed to be accessible to everyone.
If you have used Braille in the past but want to refresh your skills, the
NCBI Braille team also offers refresher courses. These courses are a great
way to brush up on your Braille skills and learn about the latest
developments in Braille technology.

Upcoming Braille Courses
Introduction to Contracted Braille Course (2 places remaining)
Date: Thursday 14th Sept 2pm - 3pm
This course is ideal for anyone who is beginning their Braille journey and
has an understanding of Uncontracted Braille. As an introduction course, it
helps lay the foundations for reading Braille books.
Uncontracted Braille Course (2 places remaining)
Date: Friday 15th Sept 10am - 11am
If you have ever thought about learning Braille, this is the ideal place to
begin. You will learn the alphabet and be able to read words and sentences.
Hable One Course (fully booked)
Date: 22nd September 12pm - 1pm
Learn about the Hable One Braille device, and how it can interact with and
control your mobile phone and act as an input device. Some topics covered
include sending a text, making/answering calls, using Siri, checking your
notifications, and checking the battery status. Grade 1 braille is essential
for this course.
Introduction to Electronic Braille Devices Course (3 places remaining)
Date: 21st September 4pm - 5pm
Gain an understanding of the different Braille devices out there, from
displays to notetakers, and learn how they can interact with other everyday
devices such as your mobile phone.
Electronic Braille Support Team
The NCBI Electronic Braille group resumes their virtual monthly meetings
after our summer break on Wednesday 6th September @4pm. The aim of the group
is to support each other around the use of the various Braille devices. We
discuss all things Braille, share ideas and solutions to queries that arise,
and follow the latest developments.
The meetings are planned for the first Wednesday of the month. New members
are always welcome, if interested please drop an email to:
