Create a desktop shortcut to your most used websites
Everyone has their favourite website that they navigate to as soon as they
open their web browser. Follow these steps to create a shortcut to a website
on your desktop using keyboard shortcuts:
1. Open either Edge or Chrome and visit your website.
2. When on the website, wait for it to fully load.
3. Press Alt + D to bring you to the address bar.
4. Once in the address bar, use the Control Key with C key to copy the
address.
5. Use Windows Key with D key to return to the Desktop.
6. Use Shift Key with F10 key to bring up the applications menu (you might
need to use Fn with F10 - depending on your laptop).
7. Use the w key to navigate to "New".
8. Use the s key to navigate to "shortcut".
9. Use the Control key with V key to insert the copied address into the text
box and press Enter.
10. Type in a name for the website that means something to you, e.g. Local
History, Todays News, Dublin GAA, etc... whatever helps you recognise what
the website link is to!
11. Press enter to complete the shortcut.
12. The shortcut to your favourite website is now on the desktop beside all
of your other links and programmes. Use Windows Key and D to access the
desktop, then use the arrow keys to browse your desktop items, alternatively
tap the key corresponding to the first letter of the item. Once on the item,
press Enter to open it.
