Hey Adrian This is fantastic. I was wondering why I still had to say hey siri. I'm not a fan of the other siri voices but I rather  my wee Irish fella. I changed my language to the UK one and I can now just say Siri. I have also changed back to my wee Irish fella and I can still say Siri. I'm still on the UK Siri though.

Hi,

If your Siri is on holiday, I've found this on the internet re Siri on iOS 17. You might want to have a look.

Listen For Siri Not Available In iOS 17?

This issue has been reported by Ace:

“Not able to use “Siri” instead of “Hey Siri” as advertised in the keynote! Is there a hidden setting that i need to trigger?”

We managed to replicate this behavior and have found similar complaints on Reddit:

“My settings is missing the option for me to just activate Siri by saying ‘Siri’. Anyone has the same issue? Is it a bug or something?”

Important: This shortcoming isn’t a bug, but an iOS 17 limitation. This new feature is currently only available for iPhones configured to use the English language.

More exactly: English (Australia, Canada, UK, U.S.) on iPhone and on AirPods Pro 2 as stated by Apple.

How To Enable Listen For Siri In iOS 17?

If you own an iPhone that’s set to one of the English languages mention above proceed as follows:

    • 1. Open Settings and scroll for Siri & Search.
    • 2. Tap on Listen for.
    • 3. Select “Siri” or “Hey Siri”.

Tip: If only “Hey Siri” is available check the iPhone language in Settings -> General -> Language & Region.

All the best,

-Adrian
