We discussed an issue raised by Cearbhal where his blue tooth earphones were
disabled while on the DART this morning; the feeling was that another user
may have been inadvertently trying to pair their device with Cearbhal's
earphones. He reset the blue tooth function and tried pairing again but
although the earphones were present he still was unable to successfully pair
them. Eventually he managed to pair them a few stops later on.
Michael reported that he is having a problem using the dictate function when
in the online keyboard. He taps the dictate button and speaks the text and
taps the button to indicate he is finished. However his phone hangs and it
takes ages to regain control by turning off the phone completely. The
feeling of the meeting was that it might be a memory problem. This then lead
to a lively discussion on examining icloud memory and how to delete items in
icloud.
Bert demonstrated VoiceDream for the meeting. It is an excellent app for
reading files and there are really brilliant voices available with this app.
Bert also discuss the RecUp app - this is the latest version of the DropVox
app.
We talked about DropBox and its advantages and disadvantages. Cearbhal
warned that it is vulnerable to hacking. Bert pointed out that it has a
limit of 8GB free storage and he recommended an alternative - Google Drive
which has 15GB storage available for free.
We discussed a problem Mary brought up last week whereby VoiceOver is
disabled when she plugs her iphone into the charger in the car. Bert said he
listened to a podcast which covered this topic at the weekend. The meeting
felt that her husband's iphone may be recognized as the primary device and
suggested that she get her husband to turn off blue tooth on his device
while in the car and then try her iphone and see if VoiceOver remains
active. Cearbhal felt that when she plugs her iphone into the charger this
may affect the speaker on the phone and VoiceOver may be still running but
inaudible to the human ear like when listening using earphones.
