I got a response but even though I had sent my email from my iol account, the
reply went to my outlook.com account, which, against my will, I had to set up
as part of the general set up conditions of my new computer.
I had all kinds of trouble trying to access her email and found that I could
not copy the email to my normal account without a great deal of hassle. It has
taken me three hours just to send you the below. And it has led me to realise
that some of my other email replies are also going into my outlook.com account,
which is infuriating. Anyone know an easy way to navigate it?.

As we evolve our research portfolio, it is natural to end or transition some
projects. We feel the community can benefit from the novel experiences
developed for the Soundscape research project, and that is why we have released
the code as open-source software on January 3, 2023. Existing installations of
Soundscape can continue to be used until the end of June 2023, and the feedback
on the app will continue to work during that time, though we will focus on bug
fixes and repairing service disruptions, but we will not address requests for
new features or capabilities.
Also, We have shared the below feedback with the engineering team for
consideration. As soon as we have more information, we will update this thread.
For reference, we have created a ticket ACCESSIBILITY 203984 for tracking
purposes, you won’t have access to this link, but this can be used as a
reference number for this request.

Dear Ms Lay-Flurrie
Just a quick note to thank Microsoft for developing the free Soundscape app and
to express my hope that it will either be possible to find some way of
continuing to support the app, or perhaps put it in safe hands so that the good
work does not go to waste in the future.
As a person without sight, I have found Soundscape to be invaluable and
confidence-giving in navigating my way around my environment and I know that so
many of my vision impaired friends and associates feel the same way.
I would hate to think that Soundscape might not thrive or indeed be lost to us
in the future. I understand that commercial realities are behind the decision
to release it to Open Source but I would ask that the Microsoft involvement not
be abandoned completely, rather that an overall parental overview be continued,
thus ensuring that any changes resulting from the Open Source policy be
managed. It would be such a crying shame to throw the baby out with the
bathwater, given all the fantastic work that has gone into developing it.
