Last month customers on the 087 prefix were targeted by a Slovenian premium
number scam.
SEVERAL MOBILE PHONE users have reported being targeted by a phone scam
involving calls from Lithuanian numbers.

Last night, Irish mobile users with 087 numbers received short or missed calls
from a number starting with +37, the Lithuanian country code.

It emerged last month that mobile users were targeted by a Slovenian premium
number scam which tried to encourage users to return the call and run up high
charges.

Users targeted by the most recent scam have contacted TheJournal.ie, reporting
that they received calls of a few seconds or just missed calls from different
numbers, all with the Lithuanian country code. All users said they were
customers on the 087 prefix, as with the previous spate of calls.

The telecom's regulator, ComReg, could not be reached for comment today.
