Level 2 Smart Speakers (Alexa)
Date: Monday 25th April
Time: 2.30pm - 3.30pm
In this Level 2 Smart Speaker course we explore various features available
on Amazon Echo smart speakers and how they can be used to help people who
are blind or partially sighted. We cover how to use whisper mode and brief
mode on a smart speaker, finding and using step-by-step recipes, creating,
accessing, and sharing lists including shopping lists. We also cover how to
link a music service, playing podcasts/music, and linking an audiobook
service.
Level 2 NVDA
Date: Thursday 28th April
Time: 2.00pm - 3.30pm
In this Level 2 NVDA course we explore more advanced features of the popular
free screen reader for Microsoft Windows. We cover working with
Word/WordPad, and the Outlook app for email. It includes how to create a
short document, saving, running a spell check, closing a document, opening a
saved document, and printing a document. We also cover how to compose, send,
reply, forward and delete an email.
Level 2 iPad
Date: Wednesday 4th May
Time: 2.00pm - 3.30pm
In this Level 2 iPad course we explore more advanced features of using
VoiceOver on an iPad. We cover using Siri to turn on/off VoiceOver, practice
touch gestures to hear what's on the screen, silence VoiceOver, explore by
touch, navigate apps, how to access the dock, and how to switch between
portrait and landscape orientation. We also cover how to use Siri to turn
on/off WiFi, Bluetooth, play/stop music, and open apps. We finish with
details on how to use the VoiceOver Practice area to put into practice what
you have learned in the course.
