Hi, the others will probably send you stuff on accessible controls from a smart
phone or Alexa and others.
The easiest manual way would be to just pop on two of the old clock type that
has pips that you press down around a clock face. Each pip represents 5 minutes
and you just press down the ones you need. Have one put on the hot cylinder
feed and one on the main radiator circuit.
People usually use them on lamps or recording mains plugs but there is no
reason why they could not be added on to a heating system.
Recently my friends have started putting in heat pump systems where they work
like an aircon system in reverse. A unit is fitted to the external wall, an
inlet vent in to the house and it blows warm air in taking the heat from the
outside air via heat exchangers. They are said to be very economical. Not sure
of the cost. Geothermal heat pumps are good but putting one in is costly.
We had last year put in a new gas boiler, about 1800 euro but the first
service cost 250 so probably no gain over the year really.
I think gas, oil and solid fuel heating may be about to come to a sudden halt,
as we try to go green to meet carbon emissions.
Good luck.
Bob.

Subject: [fb-exchange] New accessible boiler
Morning folk,
Looking forward to a hopeful 2021.
I possibly should have been reading more of the thread here but you had a
discussion fairlyy recently I believe on the FB Exchange re boilers that are
accessible to totally blind folk.
Well it comes to us all I guess as my gas boiler that heats the whole house has
stopped working so I fear that a replacement is well overdue really as I or my
gas boiler man might say.
Is it possible for folk to let me know what type of boiler I should be looking
for, one that can easily be operated by a blind person?
I use an iPhone 8 and have an amazon and a Google assistant too if
rrequired.
I think I'm looking at paying about two thousand pounds or possibly more
depending on the going rate really.
I should say too that I understand most if not all boilers are digital
these days henc my posting here
Looking forward to response,
Thanks,
Tony
