In the Orbit Reader, it is important to know whether you are in the file
manager, the reader or the editor.
. you know you are in the file manager because as you move up and
down by pressing the up/down arrow keys, the display shows file names.
. You can tell you are in the reader because you can read the
text of an open file and there is no cursor,i.e., dots 7-8) not showing.
. Finally, You know you are in the editor because dots 7-8 are
displayed as a cursor. Depending on what setting you have for the blink rate,
the cursor dots either move up and down continuously or stay up.
File manager:
You are presented with a list of files and folders
. Use the up and down arrow keys to move between files;
. Press the select key to open the current file in the reader;
. Press dot 7 to exit the reader and return to the file manager;
. Press space+e to open the current file in the editor;
. Press select twice to exit the editor and return to the file
manager.
The reader
The contents of the file are displayed in browse mode.
. Press dot 7 to leave the reader and return to the file manager;
. Press space+e to move from the reader into the editor on the
currently open file;
. Press the Select key twice to exit the editor, this returns you
to the reader in the currently open file.
The editor
This can be entered from the file manager or from the reader.
. Press space+e two open the editor;
. Press the Select key two times to exit the editor. This returns
you to either the file manager or the reader, depending on which was active
when you entered the editor.
Here are some tips.
Create a new file with space+n.
Write something like Phone list.brf on the first line and press dot 8. Orbit
20 will use the text on the first line to make a file name when you save your
edit for the first time. this file name need to be uncontracted, so don't use
any contractions in the file name.
Add the names and phone numbers of your contacts as you wish.
When done, press the select button twice to save and exit the editor
Note that when you press Select twice to exit the Editor, you do exit the
Editor, but may return to the Reader. If you're in the Reader, press Dot 7 to
return to the File Manager.
When you open the file, and want to find a person, press space+f, enter their
name and press dot 8.
If you want to edit the file, press space+e.
Note: in the Editor to use the Find command, you have to press Select to open
the menu and then press F, you cannot press Space + F in the Editor like you
can in the Reader.
Move to where you want to edit or enter new text, and press select twice
again when done.
