Hi,
Last Saturday Ken and Chris raised a very serious issue relating to files
that were not showing under iCloud. Ken and I undertook to explore the issue
and, after six hours of consultation with Apple tech. Support over three
days we managed to unravel all the answers! If you want to use Pages in any
of the IOS devices and run into problems, just let the list know and we
will, hopefully, be able to throw some light on the issue!
Meanwhile, here is the basic result of our research:
Problem:
File created on iPhone and saved to iCloud drive not appearing in iCloud
drive on iPad using the same user on both devices.
Ken and I discovered that the Pages folder that is set up automatically
under IOS does not show under iCloud Drive on the iPad but does show in the
iCloud drive on the iPhone.
This causes confusion which led to the problem experienced by Ken and
reported to the exchange Club last Saturday.
The fact:
1. the Pages App is installed on the iPhone and iPad by default within all
versions of IOS.
2. The iCloud and iCloud drive are installed by default under IOS in both
devices;
3. Both the iCloud and the iCloud drive must be enabled in both devices
before the iCloud drive can be used;
4. The Pages App must be enabled under iCloud in settings in both devices;
5. We discovered the following differences in the way documents are handled
in the Pages App on the iPhone and the Pages App on the iPad:
5.1. Within iPad:
5.1.1. Files can be renamed within the open document;
5.1.2. The Pages folder is present in both devices but is not visible under
iCloud Drive .
5.1.3. Files are shown as listed under the root directory of iCloud drive.
5.2. Within iPhone:
5.2.1. Files cannot be renamed within the open document;
5.2.2. With the file open, the icon "Documents" must be activated to show
the list of files on the iCloud Drive where the file can be renamed;
5.2.4. The Pages folder is visible under iCloud Drive ;
5.2.5. Files are listed under the root directory of iCloud drive and also
within the Pages folder under iCloud drive.
