If you would like your Alexa smart speaker to alert you with an audible tone
when it hears the wake word Alexa, then follow the instructions below. If
you are a blind or low vision user, it's not always possible to see the
visual cue that appears on top of the speaker when the wake word is
detected.
Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smart phone, tap on the Devices tab at the
bottom of the screen, select Echo & Alexa. Then select an Echo speaker or
display such as Echo Dot. Under the General section, tap on Sounds, then
toggle on the Start of Request and/or End of Request settings.
If you are using a PC or laptop, use your preferred web browser and go to:
www.alexa.amazon.co.uk <http://www.alexa.amazon.co.uk>
and sign in. Go to Settings, then go to the devices heading and select your
device, for example Echo Dot and select sounds. Press space bar on the check
box start of request play sound. And do the same on end of request sound if
that is your preference.
