Radio drama workshop for blind and visually impaired people

Artist: Ciar=E1n Taylor theatre director-deviser from Carpet Theatre.

-People with sight loss from South Dublin County are invited to join a =
radio
drama workshop. No prior experience is necessary. The workshops are run =
by
sound and drama experts in a fun, relaxed way. Anyone with sightloss can
join and help create new radio dramas. We=92d love to talk to anyone

- The radio drama workshops are due to begin Wednesday 17 October 2018,
10:30am-12:30 at RUA RED South Dublin Arts Centre at the Tallaght Luas =
stop.

-This is the fifth year of =91Sightless Cinema=92
. People who joined the previous groups say they didn=92t quite know =
what to
expect, but they really enjoyed getting involved. Recently there was a =
very
successful public audio presentation at IMC Cinema Tallaghtof the plays
created by members this year. In previous years they have been presented =
at
UCD and Lighthouse cinemas.=20

-This collaborative arts project is funded by South Dublin County =
Council
Arts Office, facilitated by NCBI Services and supported by CONTACT =
Studio -
a South Dublin County Arts Office initiative.

The Workshops:
-We=92ll work together in a relaxed, fun way exploring how to tell =
stories
through sound.=20
=20
-We=92ll start with a series of 8 workshops. These will introduce ways =
of
creating radio drama.=20
=20
- We=92ll play with recording voices and sound effects, and real sounds =
from
your daily life. We=92ll then see how these can be put together to tell
stories in sound. We=92d also like you to show us how you use sound =
technology
(phones, computers etc.), if you do.

-We plan then to continue workshops on Wednesday mornings until April =
2019,
with the aim of making recordings in a sound studio for a presentation =
later
in 2019.
=20
-With your help, we=92ll record some =91Sightless Cinema=92which can be =
broadcast
or presented for a live audience. The aim is to create pieces which come
from blind people=92s experience. They will appeal to a wide audience, =
but
will be particularly rich for blind listeners.
