Mary is getting a new laptop, and was looking for advice.it was suggested that
she should insist on 1 6Gby of RAM, as JAWS works best with this, the laptop
she is looking at comes with only 8Gby. If the laptop is more than two years
old it may not have the memory and security chip to run Windows 11. I think
she also needs to check the speed of the processor, she can get the requirement
from NCBI. I am aware of people who purchased a brand new laptop which did not
meet the spec, to run JAWS
Bert mentioned that following IOS 16,some have reported issues with the native
mail, this can be resolved by using the gmail app. Tom is receiving emails in
triplicate, he is going to check the send time of each mail,Bert suggested to
report this to Apple Accessibility phone 1800 923898.
Bert uses Eset virus protection, following a recent update his keyboard became
corrupted and Eset tech supported sorted the issue.
I think it was Tim had a NVDA,problem, when he loads it there is a bong sound
and it does not load properly.suggestions were to reload the software or try
using the repair tool.
Vera is haveing an issue with Virgin media,her package which should be 85 euro
but she is beeing charged 125.
There was discussion about chargers, as new phones are no longer shipped with
them. The problem with generic ones is that they do not have the built in
protection that original ones do, the cost difference is about 15 euro.
Reference was made to the Mesh Wi-Fi extension system available from service
providers. One of these units is connected via cable to the modem, and it is
powered from the household mains. Other Mesh units can be plugged in
throughout the house and they are connected by Wi-Fi.
