Today we had 10 participants. Initial debate revolved around my issue with
free now taxi app. Up until recently my home showed up as my pickup when I
wished to use the app from home. Recently my address shows up as a house
about 600m down the road, and I have to manually enter my pickup. I have
checked this with other navigation apps and my home showes up correctly.
Following Cearbhall's suggestion I will re enter my address in the app, and
see how this might work. Martin had a query about NBDA updates, Cearabhall
indicated that these wer advising of what updates were coming up down the
line. Discussion was had about Heble1 a new Braille device which he
recently won in a competition. Normal cost is 350 euro. Mary is having
difficulty setting stops in the new TFI app. Particularly finding the add
button. Michael indicated that tax relief on adapted cars whats not
available to the blind. Inn the North of Ireland payments are made to lease
a car in which a blind person can b e driven in. Tom is aware of a person
who was successful in recieveing funding from the HSE,as the car was needed
for him to use for work.Annette had a query about the Shell phone, Martin
will meet her soon and go through this item with her. This phone has
tactile buttons,and can also be controlled with speech, and apps may also be
added.tom asked about the virtual be my eye development. This has not yet
been released.Annette has an issue with borrow box,as in the books were not
downloading correctly. Mary advised that the first option on Borrow box is
for Ebooks and you need to select audio book to ensure the book is in
audible format. Michael has a problem with blind square as it gives no
information when in the countryside.
