Kevin,
Keys for links and various edit utilities such as edit boxes, combo boxes,
lists, etc., are only executable when in virtual cursor mode. That means
not the actual editing cursor such as the cursor that is controlled by the
mouse or the arrow keys. This is achieved by pressing JAWS and the space
bar.
Have you tried JAWS + F12 to say the time? What happens when you press these
keys?

I use windows 7 and jaws 18 on my laptop. I tried to use keys for going into
links or speaking the time for example but they don't work. Do I have to
turn something on in jaws settings?
