Thank you all for your suggestions.
I unpaired the watch and now I've tried for ages to pair it back up again
with the camera and manually, with no success. Manually doesn't give you
much time to input the numbers and using the camera, how are you meant to
know where the view finder is when you can't see it on screen. Apple don't
make it easy to do it without sight. And then both devices battery required
charging. And if you're instructed to put on your watch to proceed, how can
you charge it at the same time when prompted to do so.
