Note that Mic Mode only appears when you are running an app that supports the
feature, such as FaceTime, Zoom, and so on.
Not only do you need to be in an app that supports Mic Mode such as, FaceTime,
Zoom, Facebook Messenger Video, etc. Also, you have to be in an active call for
the Mic Mode option to appear in the Control Center.
Voice Isolation in FaceTime
Voice isolation in FaceTime uses Machine Learning to block unwanted background
noise in FaceTime video/voice calls. It’s not limited to FaceTime calls only.
Apple will allow third-party apps such as WhatsApp, Skype, and Telegram to
utilize the tech for seamless audio calls.
When on a call, go to the Control Center (on newer phones, swipe down from the
top-right corner) and hold down on the Mic. There you can turn on voice
isolation, which will decrease background noise, such as a dog barking or other
environmental sounds. This will work in other video-calling apps, too, and
will help even if you're wearing AirPods.
The Voice Isolation mode for your microphone, separates your voice from any
distracting background noise that might be on the call • Launch the FaceTime
app and initiate a video call.
• Open Control Center with a diagonal swipe down from the top-right corner of
your screen.
• Tap the Mic Mode button, top-right: FaceTime Mic modes say Standard and you
have to open it to get the other options.

on catching the ambient sound too. This can allow for an immersive experience,
but the quality and clarity of the voice can suffer.

captures your voice and filters out as much of the ambient sound as possible.
