NCBI (National Council for the Blind of Ireland) is very grateful to
Wisetek, a global leader in I T asset disposal, re-use and manufacturing
services, for answering their call for donations of old laptops or
equipment. This is part of NCBI's Eyes Online initiative, which aims to
repurpose donated hardware and devices to ensure all children and adults who
are blind or visually impaired have access to technology they need to help
them live more independently and stay connected with family and friends.
Joe McKenna, NCBI Head of Fundraising said "thanks to the Wisetek donation
of MacBooks, screens and phones we have been able to distribute these to our
service users guaranteeing they have been reconfigured with all
accessibility features enabled. The power of technology to empower the lives
of people living with sight loss is significant yet the costs associated can
be prohibitive for many of our service users. That's why donations such as
these are very much appreciated".
