Hello Garth,
Press windows key plus m, this takes you to the desktop,
Select any of the icons on the desktop.
When you locate one don't press on it.
press control plus spacebar.
This will deselect the icon.

"C:\Windows\System32\SndVol.exe". now press enter.

now you are asked to give a name for this shortcut.
press the backxpace to make sure the editfield is clear.
type what you think might be suitable, for example volume.
