Hello Guys, from a dull and chilly Dublin.
It's the first day of winter already, and not looking forward to those early
dark afternoons !!
Mary got the proceedings underway, her new version of Jaws is not working.
Declan told her to contact Sight and Sound to resolve the issue. Her Jaws is
in 40 minute demonstration mode at the moment.
She should have got alink to download the latest version.
Mary also has a problem with the camera on her laptop.
She can't get it to work. Declan told her to key in alt plus letter v.
This said video but the screen remained blank.
Declan said to go to the start menu and type in camera.
Nothing worked so Mary is going to contact Declan later to resolve the issue.
Mary is visiting Dublin Castle, for a free event with Ghost stories being
told in the Bedford room.
Mary has promised to relay some of the terrifying stories at our next
meeting.
There was a lot of discussion on Android technology and Android smart phones.
Cearbhall asked those using phones on the Android platform regarding their
accessability.
John Chambers explained that Android phones have a feature rather like voice
over on the iPhones, and its called Talk back.
Declan also a Android user says that Talk back is very inconsisdent .
Gerry also is a android user along with Bob.
Eamonn says that his wife also a Galaxy phone user is losing battery power
during the night, going to bed with a battery at about 80 percent and waking
up in the morning with a battery level at about 20 percent.
Gerry says that there is a setting in the Samsung phone to terminate apps
updating in the background, which when turned off could save battery life.
Paul and Stuart have had similar problems in the past. Paul found that having
the brightness level at about zero to 10 percent at nighttime saved a lot of
battery life.
Its great to have four people on the help class using android phones.
Declan told us that the magnification package on the android phones is very
very good.
Gerry said besides Talkback, there is a man at the bottom right hand side of
the phone , when clicked will read some text for those who only need a little
reading done for them.
John said that talk back can be put on and off by pressing the volume up
and down buttons at the same time.
Google assistant is also available on most android phones.
Tom complained that one is supposed to be able to connect bone conducting
head phones to two different devices.
But this is very problematic.
Paul complaine to Tom, that everytime he types in the name Langan, Jaws says
that it is wrong spelling.
Tom has promised to change his name and bring down Paul's blood pressure.
