Hello Folks, Temperatures still holding up, so no need to use that oil or
Gas yet.
There were 11 Participants via Zoom for today's exchange club.
Things got underway or they didn't, as when I logged into the Zoom, I and
many more were waiting for the host.
Cearbhall had difficulty in starting the meeting, but our tech genius
Stuart took over the controls and started the meeting, Well done Stuart.
The problems of power cuts, social welfare entitlements figured from the
start, due to the current problems of electricity costs.
Conversations ranged from entitlements , like household packages for the
visually impaired and so forth.
Pensions like council pensions and civil servant pensions were talked about
in detail. As were who is entitled to the fuel allowances.
Vera explained who is entitled to receive the household packages which
include free electricity units, free television license and so on.
Joe, had to apply for a television license . But he had difficulty using
his smart phone with the keyboard, his details would not enter on the
various fields on the website.
He could not enter his credit card details successfully, so he engaged his
Bluetooth external key board.
This worked and he could complete his application without any further
problems.
The house benefit package is means tested, and Joe did not qualify.
Paul has put in an order for that Logitech keys to go external wireless
Bluetooth keyboard.
Paul has asked Cearbhall to send him or the list , the Apple key strokes
for using this new Keys to go keyboared.
It seems that it has a charger and it has rechargeable batteries. One can
interact with the website by using arrows left and right plus up and down.
Paul is looking forward to receiving his new keyboard and using it for
internet searches etc.
Cearbhall took delivery of his very well priced keys to go keyboard which
is currently on special offer in two days.
Amazon have opened a new centre for Ireland and Europe in Baldonnell Dublin.
Albert also informed the meeting that Amazone have stopped delivery of
batteries to the Republic, not sure why this is, but now that Dublin has
it's own Amazone centre , batteries can be stored there for delivery in
Ireland.
Tom reported that with a lot of help from Albert and Lena in NCBI, he is now
up and running using Bookshare, and can listen to his E books using Voice
Dream Reader.
Also by going into his voice settings, he can choose from a number of voices
to be used on his Dream Reader.
Talking of voices, Albert is still waxing lyrically about the Alex voice. It
has 800 Megabytes, so is powerfull.
Cearbhall a man for the women likes Moira, but Jackie thinks Moira voice
is dreadful.
By the way Eloquence the voice of the Jaws screen reader will be available
to users of the iPhone as long as they install ios 16 as an update.
Jackie filled in the Monday meeting of her conversation with a gent from
Bank of Ireland accessability team.
She said that he allowed her to put her questions regarding the two finger
authentication problem in using the Bank app.
He answered all her questions to the best of his ability, so you never know,
maybe the BOI, will have a problem free app for all our vip members in the
not too distant future.
There was talk aroung Boilers, sun capture devices on the roof, and so
forth , and the future heating to combat the hike in electricity costs
which could be with us for a year or so.
