Hello, everybody. Still a bit cold , a sharp wind, but not bad for February.
Declan Meenagh is starting a new course on Living Alone with Sight Loss.
It starts this Thursday and anybody who has not done this course and is
interested in joining the course, should contact Declan,
Either by E- mail or telephone.
There will be no attendance list of participants from now on, due to Data
protection laws.
Paul has a problem, while listening to a podcast last night, the sound was
running very very fast.
The podcast was the Stand with Eamon Dunphy interviewing Johnny Sexton.
Paul was listening to it on the default app on his Iphone 7 and Albert
recommended that he listenen on the app Over cast which can be downloaded
from the app store.
Stuart also listens to Podcasts but he listens on app called Pocket cast.
Paul went to voice over and reduced the speed but this had little or no
effect on the voice speed on his Podcast.
Stuart suggested that he investigate the settings on the Podcast app, to see
if there is a way to reduce the speech speed.
John suggested that Paul ask Alexa to play the latest episode of the
Stand by Eamon Dunphy, and Paul wil try this and report back next week.
Victoria from Poland said that she should have got more marks in her recent
Degree course with the Open University.
One of the modules was written in the computer language called Scratch.
This language is used primarily for Graphics, and her screen reader can not
handle this script.
She was promised help with this but the help proved fruitless.
Paul and Bob suggested that she get in touch with the BBC programme hosted
by Peter White which is on each Tuesday around 8pm on Radio 4 .
In all fairness this should not happen in the modern world, and she should
follow this up with that programme called IN TOUCH.
Mary had a problem using her After Shock headphones. She uses them while
outside walking.
Mary got a call and pressed the button on the headphones to take the call.
She could not hear the person ringing her and they could not hear Mary.
Mary has the headphones paired only to her After shock headphones and
nothing else.
Bert and Eamon suggested that she disconnected them from Bluetooth and
reconnect them again.
She should have the Speaker switched off as well.
Stuart suggested that she look at the options in audio routing.
There was a lively discussion on the listening problems with the station
BBC 5 Live.
At the moment there are rights restrictions for people listening in Ireland
to 5 live due to the Winter Olympic games.
Except for those using Virgin Media who have all the rights for
broadcasting 5 live.
Eamon our short radio genius, has posted several mails outlining how one
can listen by bypassing these restrictions.
Bert and others have followed his instructions and have listened without
any problems.
Well done Eamon.
Martin wanted to know how to increase the time that the phone shuds down
and restarts.
Martin has his set for 30 seconds, and cant find a way to increase this to
a few minutes. Martin cant increase the limit because he has low power
mode switched on. . .
When he switches low power off, she can then increase the limit to a few
minutes.
When you want to add things to your
Rotor, go to voice over in your settings and arrow across until you hear
the word rotor, and then you can add a myriad of things to your rotor.
Annette wanted to know how to do this task.
That's all folks
Paul
