He found the three names, and pressed the key which said next to find the
right entry for the phone number.
There was a lot of talk regarding the best Bus times app’s.
Marti said that the newest TFI (Transport for Ireland) app was driving her
crazy. She is not the first person to give out about this app.
However Vera pointed out that there is a facility within the TFI app, to
discount all other buses stopping at your stop, and selecting only your bus
for notifications.
If your standing at a stop in city centre, and 5 buses stop at the stop along
with the your particular bus, this facility can be very useful.
Most people pointed out the problem, if a bus stops and because you have your
blind mobility cane, and tells you the number of your bus, at the same time
another bus passes by the stopped bus , and this happens to be the bus that
your waiting on, then this is a disaster.
This has happened to many vip’s or blind people over the years.
Mary suggested an app for Marti to try it’s called NEXT BUS.
Paul wondered if there was a FIT app, that spoke to you, outling your heart
rate, calories used, steps taken when walking and so on.
Mary/Cearbhall, said that the built in HEALTH Apple app, which Paul it
seems is only using the steps count and how many floors that you climbed.
But if he scrolls down a little there is a help button, and clicking here ,
he will get a lot of information on hearth rate, callories used and blood
and sugar levels.
Mary who is an AIB user wanted to know more about Jackie’s success in fixing
some AIP app problems.
Adrian/Paul said that for a longtime, sighted customers of this bank, could
freeze their card, check their pin number or request a new card.
Jackie pointed out to a representative of AIB, that this was not possible
using Voice Over on your Apple smart phone.
The person then rang her sometime later to say that this problem was fixed
for the VIP’S.
So now we can also freeze our card, check our pin number or request a new
bank card. Well done Jackie.
Hopefully Bank of Ireland will improve their app and do something similar.
Eamonn had a number of questions on using the VPN network, (virtuall private
network.
He was checking his IP address, which was 192. , and later checked his IP
address, and it showed a different IP address. Eamonn was worried abot this,
but Adrian said that this was nothing to worry about.
The 192 IP address is the address that comes up locally, that is the
address used to connect your PC to the Router.
Michael said that one of the good uses of using VPN, is to listen to a
premiership game on bbc 5 live.
Customers of Virgin Media can listen to BBC 5 LIVE on their pc’s as Virgin
hold the exclusive rights for listening to 5 live.
None Virgin customers could try and place themselves in the UK, BY using the
VPN search engine, go to the search button, and type in the UK as their
country,
And then search for 5 live radio.
Annette wanted to know if there was a way to increase the print size ina
What’s app message.
Adrian said on the Android platform, there go to Chats in What’s App, then
arrow to print size, and you can increase the point size to a larger print
size.
This is not available in the Iphone version of what’s app, but Paul
suggested that one can use Voice over to have siri read the message for you.
Mary who is heading down under shortly wanted to know more about E sims.
This is available from Vodafone, and one can operate a phone in Australia
like they do here and costing much the same, Mary is going to call the
Vodafone for more details.
