Mary/Tom have RING DOOR BELLS from Amazon.
Talk about these products ensued. For a good while.
Michael and Bert, wanted to know if when somebody rings your house doorbell,
can you see them and if you can talk to them if you’re a good distance
away, even in another county.
Yes, Amazon will notify you when your bell rings, and you can talk if you
wanted too , to the person ringing.
These doorbells cost around 100€ but if you want to retain the videos, you
must pay extra.
The videos are stored in the cloud.
Mary also said that people driving near your door or loitering around your
door will also get you a amazon notification even if they don’t ring your
bell.
People asked if it’s save to install the latest version of IOS, that is IOS
16. Bert suggested that waiting for a while would be his preferred option.
One never knows if these updates will affect voice over users or not.
Cearbhall pointed out that for a very short time one can go back to the
previous version of ios if the update 16 proves problematic.
So yours truly will await developments before installing ios 16.
Paul who got his delivery of his external key to go keyboard is awaiting
some Apple key strokes to help him get the most out of his purchase.
He has with help from Cearbhall managed to find the on /off switch, and has
connected it to his Iphone 3se via Bluetooth.
Plus he has been able to charge it as well.
Paul has ordered some location bumps in orange to help him manage the
keyboard.
Martin has a problem , when composing a word document recently, if he wants
to change a few words or paragraphs he cannot.
Normally one uses the arrow keys to go to the line before or a previous
paragraph, but this does not work for Martin anymore.
He was quizzed to make sure he was using the correct cursor, and he

A strange one indeed, he was advised by Bert to go back to the accessability
team in Microsoft to see what the problem is, the file could be corrupted, or

Mary had a problem with her podcasts. Or did she?
She listens to a programme on RTE radio 1 about Books. She thought the
programme was called Book Review, but on mature reflection this proved to be

Mary listens to her Podcasts via Downcast, while Albert listens on Overcast.
Due to the economic downturn, people were discussing the wattage things used
in the average house.
According to an article in the Irish Times, paul said that 60percent of
electricity went on home heating, while 40 percent went on Lights.
Afurther 20 percent on average went on appliances.
These numbers are only estimates, as everybody uses things differently.
But setting the thermostat is very important to keeping heating bills lower

Michael/Albert wanted to know if the app HIVE, can work with electric power
as well as Gas.
Paul is going to check with a neighbour.
Michael checked with a member of the HIVE team who said no, they only
work with Gas. This seems strange to most people so investigations
will continue
Mary has a problem with her laptop ( it won’t power off or on.
It’s stuck with a white screen, and won’t do anything. Paul thought that it
was in power saving mode, and needed the escape key or spacebar to be
pressed to get it moving again.
Others thought that the laptop was updating itself and should not be powered
off.
She does not know what is going on, but Bert said to use control plus window
key hold them down together and press the enter button, this will engage
Narrator the inbuilt screen reader of Microsoft.
This might tell her that the laptop is updating and must be left alone to
complete the task.
