Declan told us of dropping his beloved Blackberry, and the screen smashed
, even though it had a cover.
Paul suggested he go to one of those Chinese shops in Moore Street, but he
has his eye on a Galaxy mobile on Done deal.
Cearbhall suggested he join the rest of us in the 21st century!
We were joined then by Anne Claffey, who asked if she bought Alexa,
Could she listen to live sports broadcasts.Paul told her she will have a
range of stations already available, like RTE1 and all the Irish
stations, plus all the BBC stations,
But due to rights issue BBC5 LIVE, cannot be used for live games.
But Paul/Eamonn, said that she can listen to Talk Sports 1 and Talk sports
2 to a range of premiership games and championship games through Alexa.
Bert told us that the upcoming release of IOS 14 , has a facility where
you can tap the back of the phone and learn some new Gestures, perhaps one
where a person can create a new home button for those people using the
latest iPhones like 11, which don't have a home button like previous Iphone
models.
Bert asked Mary if wearing a Face mask would the face recognition on
iPhone 11 work?
Mary tried it out, and confirmed that it did not work, but she could type in
her password to open the phone.
Mary's long term problem of mails going into the wrong inbox, Mary has
three e mail addresses, and many of her mails go into the wrong box.
Jackie/Bert suggested she use BE MY EYES, where she can click a link to the
relevant Microsoft department, where the agent can access her laptop, and
Solve the problems.
Joan Kearns has very bad battery problems with her iPhone 6, Paul
Suggested she put her phone on low battery mode, even when its over 80%
And place her phone on air plane mode when she she is asleep.
There was more discussion on using voices to read e books from Borrowbox,
but John Chambers said this was a disaster, as only three words appear at a
time on the screen using voice over, and speech and text are not
Synchronized.
There was much praise for Sharon Lyons, short cut e mails, which when one
subscribes, will appear in your inbox every monday, free of charge, and are
very useful.
