weather, yours truly went for an early walk in the park, with only a T-
shirt on.
Looks settled this week, with plenty of heat and sunshine.
There were 11 Participants, for today's meeting.
Tom our man from the west, came on announced as Iphone, instead as Tom,
Cearbhall explained how to change this, to Tom has joined the meeting.
There was a lot of talk about bin collections. Both Mary and Paul complained
about walking on Monday morning, as it's Greyhounds day for bin collections
in their area.
One has to navigate a path around the bins, some on the outside of the path,
some close to the wall, and of course those bins right in the middle of the
pavement.
Several people including Albert, Michael, COMPLAINED about trying to find
their bins, after the collection. Sometime up about 2 or 3 houses. Bert, is
goind to ring Thorntons , his bin carrier, and suggest that they put on
their scanners, used to determine , if a person has paid for the collection,
that they could put on the scanner, that this person is vision impaired. So
they would make sure to put their bin at their gate, so they could take in
the correct bin.
Michael also complained about people in houses with 2 cars in a driveway
made only for one car. The second car half in the persons driveway and half
blocking the pavement. This results in an obstruction for a vip as they go
for a walk.
Tom suggested that Navi Lens could help people find their bins, by putting
on a laminated lens sticker on the bin handle. Tom who must be a leading
share holder in Navi Lens, thinks that they can solve many a problem for
vision impaired people. , such as the problem of finding your bin.
John who recently upgraded up to Virgin Media 360, has a problem. His
Television works fine, but his internet hand free phone, will only make calls
to other mobile phones, but can't make calls to another land line.
Engineers from Virgin, are aware of this curious problem, and are working on
a resolution.
Cearbhall has a problem in playing audio files. When he goes to the Virgin
media website, he gets an audio file to play, but when he clicks on the file
to play with windows media player, it says playing the file, but he hears
nothing.
Bert suggested typing in BLUE TOOTH, TO SEE what devices are enabled, and he
found out where the problem was, and hopefully this will restore his soung.
Bert thought that it might be a sound card problem, but as Cearbhall can hear
the signature tune announcing NVDA, this ruled out this as been the problem.
More good detective work by Bert.
Both Bert and Cearbhall have problems with using Capture. Although there is a
sound version of Capture, it does not work, Bert suggested using and
subscribing to a website called Rumona, which will put in the correct
numbers to show that you're a human, and not a Robot.
This lack of accessability for Capture should not be tolerated much longer
as there is a major problem for people using screen readers. This should be
outlined to all companies using this technology.
Paul said that radio 5 live is no longer availabl via Alexa, but all other
BBC stations are still fully accessible.
Of course subscribers of Virgin Media can listen to Radio 5 live and radio 5
live extra through their television set.
Mary has a problem , she wants to return a book to Audible.com. This is
usually done via the purchase history menu, but try as she might , she can't
find the link on her audible . com app.
