A large attendance for a bank holiday Monday.
Some technical questions were asked, like How to increase the speed of Jaws?
Albert said to press the insert key(jaws key), spacebar plus the letter J.
This brings up a range of options for Jaws,
Eamon , says that to increase the speed of jaws,
1st read a document with jaws by turning on jaws and press arrow down to
read the document,
While reading the document , then press page up and page down to increase
the speed and decrease speed.
Claire told us of a problem she had, trying to book the Gresham hotel in
Dublin.
She requested an accessible room, which gives her a walk in shower , more
room to move about,
But when she got the confirmation mail, it was in Spanish.
It seems that the call centre handling her booking was in Rio or Mexico.
When she goes to read her confirmation mail, voice over, sees the Spanish
flag, and deduces that the mail should be in Spanish.
Her mother said that the mail was in English, but voice over read it in
Spanish.
The person handling her call did not understand the word accessibility, but
when talking to her
He realised that they were talking about disability.
There was more discussion on the covid19 travel document,
Bob/John Chambers say that the QRT code is on the second page of your
certificate stating that you have been vaccinated twice.
You photograph the QRT code, take picture from a reasonable height to get
the code in, lately the camera will take the picture automatically.
The QRT code can be on the top left or top right side of the document.
Jackie told us of her use of the sound scape app. She said that it did not
call out the name of the streets but referred to them as residential streets
only.
But it called out the Show grounds, the home ofSligo rovers, a league of
Ireland premier team.
Also it called out the names of the shops, on the right in her right ear,
and on the left on her left ear.
But if you have Boze headphones, one can use them to direct their head to
tell them what they are seeing. looking at, and naming what they see.
Mr Martin helped Paul, to compose a new word document easier than he
usually does,
Press f12, and type in the name of the document and your asked to save it
as,
Then save it to where you like documents or on the C drive or on your
desktop.
Martin has a shit load of it skills, Paul thinks.
Mary wanted to know if anybody had echo show?
Jackie has, and can answer her questions next week, as Jackie had
disappeared to view and checkher bank balance
!!
It was a fun meeting as befits a bank holiday Monday, 02 August 2021 with
stories of funny situations that befall visually impaired people,

Mary getting instructions from people who describe how to get to a place by
house numbers/coloured poles etc, even though she points out that she is
walking with a guide dog!!!!!
