Hi Folks, Lucky Dublin, no power cuts or much damage compared to the West of
Ireland counties.
There were 14 talkative zoomers for today’s Dublin Tech meeting.
Tom wanted to know if Timers could be set for Zoom meetings.
Like a regulated speaking time for each person, or a timer for a particular
topic or a timer for the meeting itself.
Nobody knew the answer to that question, but Adrian said that there were
several Zoom apps, that could be added to be used in conjunction with a
meeting, and these should be looked at , for a possible answer.
Cearbhall suggested that this could be looked at in future meetings.
Mary who has a pair of Apple Air pods 2, wanted to know how to increase the
sound volume.
Stuart explained that there is a slider on both pods, and when you run your
finger upwards a sound emits indicating that the volume is increasing.
Using the slider to increase the sound on one Airpod will increase sound for
both pods.
Annette wanted to know how you know if your Air pods were pro 2 or 3. Go to
settings, Bluetooth, and you will see discoverable devices, and you will hear
what model you have installed.
Stuart said that the Air pods pro 2 cost around 279€
And one can get a vat refund on these as a visible impaired person.
Albert is having a problem with his iPhone 15 , he cannot receive any text
messages but can send a text .
He has been onto Apple, and they looked at his problem, and confirmed that his
phone was ok, and the problem was most likely with his service provider.
His provider is Virgin, and he is trying to contact them as soon as possible.
There was a lot of talk with regard to availability of ATM cash machines.
The government wants to maintain a cash society as well as the ever increasing
card population.
Mary outlined a incident that happened over the weekend with regard to a
drainage block affecting multiple households.
A plumber was hired and gave a price of 130€ , and did the job.
Her husband paid the bill, and the other neighbours, then went to their local
ATM bank machine to withdraw what they should give to make everybody
contribute the same money.
If there was no cash machine , then all the residents would have to give their
bank details to contribute by transfer money to her husbands account.
There were more complaints from most people about the lack of accessability to
Bank of Ireland customer accounts.
Stuart did Zoom share to show Dublin tech members about using AI, to create a
story and a music song.
It seems that Jackie send Stuart a number of words and an idea for a tune
about somebody cutting the lawn for a neighbour.
Using Chat AI, the robot composed lyrics for an interesting ditty.
Then Stuart using an app called Sona, compose aselection of instruments he
wanted used and selected a melody, and the robot did the rest.
This culminated in a fantastic song worthy of a release, or a late entry into
the Eurovision song contest.
We talked about the recent issue of BOI credit cards which contain a little
indentation or cut off on one side of the card. Paul/Albert said that this was
great for identifying your credit card from amongst all your other cards.
Adrian said that soon the ATM cards would also have a small slit on one side
as well, and Albert wondered if he could find out which one of these cards was
the credit card, as they both had a slit in them.
Eamonn told us that a 4 finger tap twice would bring on the help menu, for
voice over commands.
This is a very valuable key stroke to have in your locker.
Paul complained about the speak bar which comes on from time to time to annoy
him.
Bert said that this could be turned off in settings, settings then
accessability then voice over and arrow down to speak all and turn this off.
