Hi Folks, from a typical March day, you know the expression,
March comes in like a Lion, and goes out like a Lamb, well I am waiting for
the Lamb March to appear and settle!!
Well done to John O'Shea in coaching the Ireland soccer team to a very
credible draw againstBelgium who are ranked 4th bbest in the World for
soccer.
There were 14 Participants for today's Dublin Tech club.
Please note that there will be no Exchange club next week as it's Easter
Monday a bank holiday.
We learned that Stuart was using his Focus 14 Braille keyboard from Freedom
Scientific. Stuart is attending the Vision Ireland course on uncontracted
Braille, and reports that he is doing really well, and can now understand
much of the Braille.
Well done Stuart.
Albert/Eamonn, told us of using the facility of the company Dublin Coach
service for going to the airport.
It seems that one can use their normal Bus/Luas pass on this service
andit's good to know that this is accepted. .
Michael reported to the meeting, that EIR call centre were now answering
calls within 3 minutes.
So after some very bad press last year, somebody has bit the bullet, and now
EIR has a very quick response unit.
We all welcomed Mary back from a holiday in Australia.
Mary told us that she bought an E sim card from Vodafone before she left
Ireland.
This is an electronic sim card which allows her to make free phone calls in
Australia, , the same as she does normally in Ireland., with her regular
sim card.
The cost was approximately 18 Euros or 30 Australian Dollars. For the month.
Tis sim card is a digital one and not a hard card that most people are used
too.
While in Australia she visited a number of tourist sites, like famous prison
sites. These sites often had QR codes, so people could get a spoken
commentary on what they were looking at to get a better experience.
But Mary could not get this working, and wondered what she was doing wrong.

Bert said that one should go into their camera settings and locate the QR
CODE, and then turn it on.
Mary was complaining about her BLIND SQUARE APP. She wants for instance to
go to Arnot's in Henry street,
And needs to have clear navigation information on turns and so forth.
People said that she would be better in using Google maps.
Open Google and go to directions to get to Arnot's,
You will get a message which says go by car, public transport or walking.
When you arrive and do your business, create another search by putting in
your home address, and select for instance directions by bus, and follow the
directions given to complete your homeward journey.
Albert is disappointed that his Human wear product, cannot be linked to his
smart phone.
Contacting Apple, they told him that Humanwear would not install the
necessary drivers on their products to enable it to run on the Apple
devices.
They refused to update the Humanwear product.
