Hello Folks, Weather still a little cold, but nearly at the end of
Winter, but mind that expression, Don’t shed a cloth until May is out.
What a great sporting weekend, with Ireland still on track for back to
back 6 nations rugby champions.
But the highlight was Italy drawing with France, and taking a penalty at
the very end which would have won Italy the game, but the ball , hit the
post, so nobody won.
There were 13 Participants for today’s Tech club.
The note taker went on a rant, about the Bank of Ireland app on his
iPhone 13 mini.
First of all a couple of weeks ago, e, he could not read his deposit
savings account, but found a way around this problem, by going to the link
withdraw funds.
Then it says withdraw from account, and it then calls out your savings.
Then you can stop this request and terminate your withdrawal.
Now there is a problem with his credit card account. It says first your
Balance is up to date, but does not give you , your balance.
Also, when he uses the credit card the transaction goes through, but voice
over, does not read out the payment figures.
But sometime later a day or so, it will then read out the amount.
There is no way that you could call this app, fully accessible , it is
not.
The bank would be better off, doing what they do with their cookie advice
that accept all or reject all, to avoid any litigation.
They spend scant time in regard to the needs of vision impaired customers
when designing their app.
Rant over, but I notice that there are a number of people sending in E-
mails with similar problems using BOI app.
Paul the note taker also had another issue in reading a story on the
Journal newspaper app.
Every Sunday, the journal has a story about some person or other, and they
tell their story about how they spend their money in a given week. It’s a
great insight into the world of 30 to 60 year old working people, their
jobs, their live style and where they spend their money.
Paul was listening to the story, and about 70% through the story, he was
suddenly ejected back to the very beginning of the article.
He decided to read the story again, using voice over, and the story was
read completely without a hitch.
This was the second time that this happened, first reading , he was
suddenly transmitted back to the start of the article, and always the
second time the story is faultless , again reading with voice over.
Nobody could shed any light , as to why this happens.
Tom who was a little incapacitated this morning wanted to knowhow to
increase the voice speed on his voice dreamer app.
Go into the voice dreamer settings, and go to Audio, then voice speed,
this is a slider, where one can increase or decrease the speed of the
voice.
Albert supplied this help for Tom.
Vera was having an automatic update to her I POD, but it terminated
before finishing, and left her with a peculiar screen.
The status bar instead of being at the top of the screen was at the
bottom.
Eamonn /Bert suggested several key strokes that might fix this problem.
But the advice at the end was for Vera, to shut down her laptop, and
power on later, and see if this fixes the problem.
Paul also suggested that she could do a manual upgrade for her machine,
and see if this restores her laptop to the correct orientation.
Eamon wanted to know how to change the voice for your phone.
Albert said go to settings, general, accessability then voice over, and
finally speech.
Here you will find many different voices , Paul uses Daniel, Bert uses
Alex, and our Ladies man Cearbhall uses Moira !!
Before you download the voice of your choice, one can get a sample of the
various voices , and listen to a few minutes of their tone and delivery.
At this time, Martin interjected with a question, what do you call a blind
reindeer?

Paudi is going to Belfast for the RNIB, exhibition of their products for
the visually impaired.
It’s being held in the Europa hotel this Wednesday, and Paudi has promised
to give all a first hand account of the show.
Bert told us that Microsoft are introducing a co pilot (robot), for
Windows 11 and he thinks that they are going to charge 20$ for those who
are going to use it for business.
