Hi Folks, It's a bright but cool day in the capitol today.
So much for the expression March comes in like a Lion, and goes out like a
Lamb, it's more like a Lion now going out!!
There were 11 Participants for today's technology meeting.
Including Wiktoria from Poland.
Martin urged us all to listen to the latest podcast by Jonathan Mosen,
which includes some information on the latest Orbit Reader, which should
be
of interest to Tom.
Of course it should be possible to ask Alexa to play this podcast.
Mary wanted to know how to create the Euro sign on her Laptop.
Press the right alt key plus the number 4 on the top numeric keypad.
Jackie uses a code on the regular keypad to achieve the same result.
Paul uses control+left alt key and the numb. er 4 on the top line numeric
key pad. On his desktop.
Martin in fine form this morning was trying to do a little clothes washing
but could not get things working.
He contacted BE MY EYES, and a gorgeous young lady was able to fine the
button to put his water on, and get things started.
Martin always has a good rapport with the Ladies
Jackie was surprised during the week, she got an E-Mail from revolut,
asking
her for her pps number .
She also got a notification on her smart phone asking her for her pps
again.
This was not a scam, but now Revolut, need your pps number as they are
offering a complete banking service now for Ireland.
Paul said that BBC RADIO 5 LIVE was not available anymore on his Alexa
echo
device. Martin that man from the Kildare showed everybody how he listens to
5 live.
He asks Alexa to open BBC SOUND, and then asks her to play bbc radio 5
live, and it came on , loud and clear.
Well done Martin, showing his initiative in getting around this problem.
.
We learned about Cearbhall's altercation with a young couples car in a back
road beside his house.
Lucky the only thing broken was his blind stick, and the male occupant came
back to see if Cearbhall was alright.
Stay safe Cearbhall say all of us.
Cearbhall said that this stick was a little heavy for him, and wondered
where he could get one made from graphite.
Paul and Tom thought the ncbi sticks were more suitable than those from the
Irish guide dogs, as they seem much lighter and not as durable.
We learned that Amazon also supply blind sticks, and some even in other
colours.
Coloured sticks are not a good idea, it has taken several decades to
educate sighted people, that a white stick , denotes a visual
impairement.
There were wonderful stories of people using their mobility canes, and
the
people they came across offering help to them, and all agreed that one
could fill a book, with some great stories.
That's all folks for now
Good luck to the Irish soccer team playing France the best team in Europe
tonight.
Paul
