Hi Eleanor, If the device has features which makes it especially accessible
to be used by a blind person,And for a robotic vacuum cleaner it could
easily be argued that a blind person could miss anything up to a quarter of
the floorspace in the house while the robot should find all the areas.
Blind individuals are entitled to refunds on VAT on many of the purchases
we make as a result of the fact we are blind. The relief applies to VAT on
the purchase of goods which are aids and appliances designed to assist a
person with a disability to overcome his/her disability in the performance of
daily functions or in the exercise of a vocation. If you get a present of a
accessible device the Person who gives you the device, can reclaim the vat,
so if claimed by a person other than the person with the disability, Revenue
may require evidence that the aid or appliance is exclusively used by the
person with the disability and in his/her sole possession.

This is a product that will read PDF Documents and has a stand which one
assembles for ease of action.
Eamonn bought this from Sight and Sound, and it's a South Korean product.
It comes with a telephone number pad, and can be connected to your Wifi.
Eamonn reports that the battery life seems very good.
It is rather expensive but Eamonn is very happy with the purchase, and is
now working on reclaiming the VAT on the product.
The Hims sense care , OCR, machine sounds really good, and we await more
talk on it's uses from Eamonn over the next few weeks.
At this juncture we learned that both Eamonn and Albert are regular
listeners to that long running radio serial THE ARCHERS on BBC Radio 4.
Bert has been listening since the early 1950's !!
Jackie reclaimed VAT on her recent purchase of a Robo vac hoover recently
and gave the name of the access officer who helped her with her claim to
Eamonn.
There was more Talk on those mobility apps like Soundscape Community and
Voicevista.
One can ask Siri to download the new Voicevista app, which Bert has done,
but has not tried using yet.
Bert has noticed that his Voicevista has has had many updates and this is a
good sign.
Jackie is raving about Be my eyes latest venture. You can photograph an
object and you will get a thorough description on what your looking at, and
can ask follow up questions as well.
Mary using Seeing ai, after setting up Siri shortcuts for reading
Shorttexts.
To enable this short cut, open the Seeing ai menu, , then go to Settings,
, configure shortcuts, and select the shortcut that you want, like
currency, short text document or colour identifier or all of them if you
like.
Then simply ask Siri, open currency or read currency for me, or whatever
words suit your needs.
Bert said that the short text is very good, as it does not go to the
internet but goes to the cloud.
Seeing ai, is also good for those with no sight, to tell them, whether the
lights are on or off.
There was also talk on air pods, air tickets and a generic version of air
pods, which Mary uses and is much much cheaper.
Also talk onthat new braille keyboard, and the forthcoming course on using
braille.
As I had a Plumber also talking to me as he grappled with fitting in a new
cylinder immersion tank, I may have missed a few items.
