Excellent Minutes Paul.
Also love how even when I'm not in attendance the mention of Eir my angry
little demon comes out.

A great sporting weekend as Ireland defeated the Springboks, and an Irishman
won the world gymnastics competition.
Worrying time on the Tech employment front.
There were 9 Participants for today’s Monday meeting.
Paul kicked off with his dreadful news concerning his new Apple se3 Iphone.
He was sitting at home last Tuesday reading a newspaper on his smart phone,
and after visiting a room upstairs in his house, he returned to find his
phone , all black.
At first he thought that the screen curtain had come on, but he tried to
remove the screen curtain, but nothing worked.
Then he tried putting on and off the voice over, but no sounds were audible.
So then he tried to turn off the phone, and nothing happened. Then he
connected the phone to his charger and to the mains, but again nothing
happened.
At this point Paul rang Vodafone and got onto the technical section and
outlined the problems.
The agent said that she did not know if this was a software or hardware
issue.
They told him to bring the phone to any Vodafone shop, not necessarily the
shop where he bought the phone.
Paul brought the phone to Nutgrove shopping centre, and explained that he
only bought this device on April 12th this year, so it was still in
warranty.
The assistant tried everything to get the phone working , but in the end
could not get it working.
So he backed up everything on a computer, took Paul’s details and said that
the phone would be sent back to see what the problem was, and he would ring
him when the problem was resolved, about 10 days.
It is impossible to contact the Vodafone by phone as one is always directed
to the Vodafone call centre.
Paul finally got a new number for the shop directly, but nobody answers
these calls. Paul owns this phone as he bought it outright with his
credit card.
He has a contract with Vodafone for 30€ per month for his calls.
Hopefully this problem will have a good ending, but it’s no way to treat a
good customer.
As an aside , Paul asked the shop assistant whether they needed the sim card
in the phone when sending it back, and he said no.
So Paul got him to put his sim card in his old Apple Iphone 7.
There was an interesting discussion on Hot Spots, On Apple there is a Hot
Spot in most settings.
So is somebody has no wifi when using a PC or Laptop, one can set up a Hot
Spot on their smart phone by going to settings, selecting Hot Spot and
turning on Mobile Data.
The computer will then pick up the hotspot on your phone, and after putting
in your password, one can use the Laptop or Desktop.
Albert thought that Virgin Media had an offer of 5€ per month to create a hot
spot anywhere.
Tom is thinking of dropping Sky and wanted to know who was the best for
broadband and so on.
Cearbhall did not recommend Vodafone as he had a number of ddifficulties
with them.
Bert uses Virgin Media, but found their help line lacking something, as his
daughter got his TV working better then the advice he got from their agents.
Somebody recommended Eir, but this information will be kept away from Jackie
!!
Bert said that RTE radio one will not play on his app, Simple radio.
Bert updated his ios to the latest version, and since that cannot get RTE
one to play on Simple radio.
He wrote to the developers, and they said that ONE cannot play this station
as RTE HAVE CHANGED their browser.
Cearbhall can play RTE RADIO 1, on his Simple radio app, but he did not
update his IOS software.
Bert said that this problem started on October 17th this year.
Paul complained that using the radio player , he always gets 2fm as he last
listened to this station on his radio app.
To change this go to settings and select always start with this station .
A big discussion began on Blind Square and Four Square.
Four Square is for sighted users, and Bling Square is the equivalent for
visually impaired persons.
Bert and Cearbhall thought that Blind Square was superior to Soundscape.
Paul recommended to Annette Soundscape as she has a good deal of sight, but
perhaps Blind Square is better for those with no vision.
There are a few menues for Soundscape, like My Location, Current Location, My
Markers, and Whats around me.
There were great contributions from Martin, Annette and Stuart.
That’s ALL Folks
Paul
