Thanks Paul, Mary and I sorted out the Audible problem. Since we have no other users of the iPhone I thought I would report the solution now rather than wait for Monday. the problem was to find the Audible app that serves the audible.com site rather than the audible.co.uk site. To download the Audible app: 1. open the App Store and search for "audible". 2. The first item in the result list is "audible" followed by "Audible inc". These are two different items on the same line. 3. Select the first word "Audible" and double tap to open it. 4. The page opens with the heading "Audible" but all the displayed details are for the UK site 5. Click on the word "Free" and respond to the Apple login requests to enable the download. 6. After the download is complete and the app has been successfully installed close the "App Store" 7. Open the new Audible app on the desktop. It opens at the "Sign on" screen. 8. Type audible user name and password 9. tab to "Select market" and double tap. 10. Find and double tap the Uk or the US market or whichever market hosts your Audible account. 11. Press escape or tap "back" to return to the Audible sign in screen. 12. double tap the "Sign in" button. 13. the audible app opens with full service available. The confusion was caused by the fact that the Audible app carries information for "Audible .co.uk" by default with no mention of the US or .com market. Mary recalled that she had to brave her doubts and find the market selector switch after opening the UK headed dialogue! Holding my breath I followed her excellent advice and found the selector. Thanks Mary. Discussions were had on the merits of texting using nokia technology and the i phone. It was pointed out that one can speak into an iphone to command it to send a composed text message using the voice only. But sound interruption was sometimes a problem. A discussion also took place on deleting and removing audible books, and some confusion on audible and audible inc. this was work in progress and should be continued next week. Efforts were made to disable the mouse on a laptop, but so far this has been unsuccessful. paul griffith =========================================================== The fb-exchange mailing list Manage account or unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/fb-exchange Archives: //www.freelists.org/archives/fb-exchange Administrative contact: insight@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx =========================================================== =========================================================== The fb-exchange mailing list Manage account or unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/fb-exchange Archives: //www.freelists.org/archives/fb-exchange Administrative contact: insight@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ===========================================================
