This meeting was primarily about getting all members up to scratch on how
to vote at the AGM meeting for Fighting Blindness which takes place on
December 4th.
Joining us were Andrew and Anna Moran from fighting blindness.
This was a test to see if the software application package (Election Buddy)
Would be suitable for visually impaired people to use. Our e mail addresses
were taken and those participating were sent an e mail by Andrew, which
when delivered the person would click a link would bring you onto the
package.
One could use whatever browser they use with their desktop or laptop.
While those using their smart phones would use Safari or the Samsung
browser.
There were 4 test candidates called candidate 1 candidate 2, candidate 3 and
candidate 4.
One could select the person they wanted elected, by clicking the yes button.
You could select a person, reject a person or abstain.
Yours truly select candidate 2, and then went to the continue button.
This did not work, and Paul could not continue to have his vote counted. .
It seems that one must do something which each candidate to allow the vote
to be continued.
Declan is going to run a second test count on Wednesday next in the
afternoon.
People using screen readers like Jaws and NDVI, have some problems with the
application package, while those using safari and android phones have other
problems.
Declan hopes to have these provblems and blitches sorted out at the next test
day.
Earlier Mary had a technical problem with her video camera while on Zoom.
She brought her laptop to a camera shop where an assistant did something to
restore the camera.
But now again this morning , nobody could see Mary and her camera appeared as
a blank dark screen.
Declan suggested that she uninstall camera by going to the add/remove
programmes page.
Then uninstall and then reinstall again.
Declan said that he would ring her later off line.
Those people who want to take part in the real vote on December 4th, should
note that only fully paid members can vote on the day.
To know if your fully paid up member , you can e mail
Membership?:@fighting blindness.ieor telephone 01 6789004
Tom has a problem using the ncbi library .
He reads a few chapters, then when he goes back to continue reading, he is
brought back to the beginning of the bbook, rather than where he paused the
reading.
NCBI use a programme called overdrive, and this can be problematic.
Paul cannot remember if a solution was found for TOM.
Tom was extolling the virtues of book share.
John uses a kindle, and found a new library called kobo(not sure about the
name!That's all folks
