There was an initial discussion on voting at the upcoming agm for fighting
blindness.
Some people are now trained into using the election buddy software to vote
on the day. Then there was some advice given on how to use your proxy vote if
not joining the virtual agm on December 4th. .
Technical talk then got underway.
Mary still is having problems, her video camera is not working while Zooming.
She can see all the participants using her video camera, but nobody c can see
Mary. Albert/Cearbhall think that there is a problem with the camera
drivers.
Mary also has her Jaws software which is corrupted.
She got onto BE MY EYES, who connected her to the Microsoft help team,
which uninstalled the latest version of Jaws and reinstalled the Jaws
software again, but this made no difference.
Next they uninstalled Windows 10, and reinstalled it again, but this also
had no effect in curing her Jaws problem.
Albert suggested that she go to the utility menu for Jaws and go down to
Voice assist, and turn this off .
Also Bert suggested that she try a System restore, but I think this was
tried also to no avail.

Mary praised Cearbhall for getting her up and running using NVDA open source
software similar to Jaws. This got Mary out of a lot of problems until her
Jaws software problems are waiting to be resolved by their agents.
Tom still has problems in using Overdrive when using the ncbi library books
and book share.
Although there is a play and pause button, this does not always work. Tom
sometimes pauses the book, and next time he logs on he has to start the book
again from the beginning.
Martin told us how he pauses his book while on the Amazon Fire Tablet, he
uses voice dream reader to read the books and he can go to the options menu
and select a bookmark.
Bob said that there is a bookmark label on the Android phone for Overdrive,
and Bert said that there is likely a similar button on the Overdrive
software on the Apple phones as well, but perhaps its not labelled
Gerda has problems with her 2 year old SE apple phone.
She gets the message to install IOS 15.1, but Jackie/Paul said not to update
her phone, as it would not take the updates and perhaps could ruin her phone.
Cearbhall and others told Gerda to go to settings General and then turn off
automatic updates. This should result in getting rid of update notifications.
Gerda wants to learn how to use the voice over facility on her Iphone.
Vera has kindly offered to send her via e mail, a list of the gestures
needed to work voice over successfully. Well done Vera.
It was also pointed out to Gerda that if she goes to
settings/general/accessability and swipes right to voice over practice.
Here she can use and practice her voice over gestures without doing any
damage to her mobile.
At this stage yours truly had to entertain the grand daughter, and left the
meeting with Cearbhall asking a question.
