IN ATTENDENCE: Dominique Farrell: Mary Lavelle: Marty Bourne: Cearbhall O'Meadhra: Paul Griffith: and welcome to a new member, Marc McDonnell: Our newest member had a new notebook/tablet with him, where the arrow keys were not divided from the other keys as was the case with a previous laptop, and he had difficulty in finding them and accessing them with ease. Paul suggested that he use some bumpber stickers to help him find the keys easier, and some were found on the premises, and proved a great help to Marc. Cearghall suggested in just using one, and a suitable key was selected to give the greatest benefit in locating these arrow keys. Also the icon for the Jaws software appeared on Marc's desktop, it was not working, as the installation carried out by his friend was not fully installed. Cearbhall decided to install jaws in demo mode , which lasts for about 40 minutes. Marc found that the sound was muted, and when he changed this by hitting the spacebar, the sound came on, to help navigation. Marc has a great deal of central vision, and is reluctant to depend on jaws at this stage, so unticked the box , which has jaws coming on automatically. Marc explained that he had difficulty sometimes in finding the cursor, so Paul suggested that software like magic specialises in enhancing the size of the mouse, change its colour and so forth. Under instructions from Cearbhall, Marc decided to see if theoptions in windows 7 , to do this, and found that he could change the size of his mouse pointer, its colour, and had a line darting out to show the location of the cursor, and that this line disappeared as soom as he began typing again. Cearbhall had helped Marc to use eloquence as the default voice for jaws. so Marc was happy that he found in display/apearance the options to bespoke his mouse pointer. Marty has threatened to bring in her laptop and mp3 player, and demonstrate them to the group next time. we all look forward to learning from Marty. Today was a good meeting as Marc's problems related to accessing his arrow keys better, and creating a pointer trail for his mouse , it seems that both of these problems were resolved. well done everybody. paul griffith april 29th 2013 =========================================================== The fb-exchange mailing list Manage account or unsubscribe: //www.freelists.org/list/fb-exchange Archives: //www.freelists.org/archives/fb-exchange Administrative contact: insight@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ===========================================================
